Ma. Carmen Alcuaz-Reyes

Ma. Carmen Alcuaz-Reyes, or Nena, is the President and Founder of the CENTER FOR LEADERSHIP AND CHANGE, INC. (CLCI), the Philippine licensee of Franklin Covey Company.

Nena was first introduced to the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in 1989, subsequently she organized the first public offering and facilitator training for the 7 Habits in 1990. She is a certified facilitator for 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, First Things First, Time Quest, Principle Centered Leadership, What Matters Most, 4 Roles of Leadership and is an accredited Master Facilitator for 7 Habits, What Matters Most & First Things First.

For 28 years, Nena was Director of the Central Guidance Bureau, an auxiliary unit of the Ateneo de Manila University that offers the university, community, business and industrial, and government sectors a wide range of professional services: psychological and behavioral assessment, test construction and development, research training, and organizational development.

Nena was also Assistant Professor of the Psychology Department in Ateneo.  Among courses that she taught were: Tests and Measurements; Projective Techniques and Rorschach, Counseling and Psychotherapy; Theories of Personality; Dynamics of Groups and Group Processes; Advanced Industrial Psychology; Organizational Development; and Corporate Culture and Leadership.

Over the years, Nena has made a mark in the field of Training and Organizational Development by helping clients build teams and synergy within their workgroups.  Her past involvement include process consulting during strategic planning meetings; diagnosing organizations through needs assessment and work adjustments surveys; facilitating mission-vision workshops; designing recruitment testing batteries and career development programs; and running Values programs to help in corporate culture development efforts, and training facilitators.

In the 1970’s, Nena served as consultant in the Development Academy of the Philippines as T-Group Facilitator and Assessor for Career Executive Service Assessment Center.

She is a member of various organizations such as the Philippine Training and Development Foundation and the Management Association of the Philippines, where she now serves as sub-chair for the Management Development Committee. She has also served in various capacities in the Psychological Association of the Philippines, Philippine Society for Training and Development, and the Philippine Institute for Behavioral Sciences.  Foremost in her community involvement is serving as Board Member and Secretary of the Foundation for Retarded Children. She is also a Board Member of the Gregorio Araneta Social Development Foundation. 

A Fulbright-Hays Scholar, Nena holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and a Master of Arts in Psychology from the Ateneo de Manila University.  She also took the Management Development Program at the Asian Institute of Management.  She is an alumna of the Assumption College where she graduated with the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Education major in Mathematics and Bachelor of Arts major in Philosophy from the Assumption College, both magna cum laude.

Nena is married to Dr. Ramon C. Reyes, a full professor of the Department of Philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila University.  They have two sons- Xavier Paolo and IƱigo Rafael, both studying at the Ateneo de Manila University.
