Novartis Philippines drives managers’ winning spirit in first Leaders’ Forum

Reposted from: The Daily Tribune (Life!) - March 15, 2009

Donning race suits and crash helmets, 60 managers put the pedal to the metal during Novartis Philippines first Leaders’ Forum held recently at the City Kart Race Tracks in West Service Road, Sucat, Parañaque.

“In an increasingly competitive pharmaceutical sales race, we need to speed up for a big finish in 2008,” said Peter Goldschmidt, president and CEO of the leading Swiss research-based healthcare company.

Burning rubber in the race track was only one of various physical and mental exercises featured in the unique team building activity. After resource speaker Terry David shared his insights on “Leading to Unleash the Potential and Speed Up” and the Pharma Executive Committee made a series of presentations, managers held breakout sessions to brainstorm on speeding up sales, systems and skills. Managers presented their ideas on speeding up with to their co-participants.

Organized by the Novartis Human Resource Department headed by director Rose Katalbas, the Leaders’ Forum aims to involve Novartis managers in the company’s continuous process of improvement. Its theme was “Unleash the Potential & Win in 2008 — Year End Race: Time to speed up.”

“We want our leaders to always be the first to know about key information affecting our organization and to be involved in decision making. We want them to speak up and push for open communication among all stakeholders, customers and associates. Most importantly, we want them to identify opportunities for growth, track execution, and sell more!” said Goldschmidt.

Summing up the daylong activity, sales manager Marlo Basilad said, “The Leaders’ Forum has succeeded in keeping the leaders driven and very much inspired.”
