Child Study Center Parent Seminar on The Leader in Me and Family Communications

The Child Study Center of Miriam College recently held a parent seminar with speakers from FranklinCovey and the Center for Leadership and Change, Inc.

Miss Christine Javier gave an orientation to The Leader in Me, a program that MyLac XL Prep sponsored for the Child Study Center last 2009.  She shared about A.B. Combs integration of the 7 Habits in their school and the outstanding results they had especially on the character, confidence and leadership qualities of their students.  Parents shared how important character education and a new paradigm of leadership was-- not just as a position of power but a potential that can be developed in each child.  They agreed that a parent-school collaboration and partnership was essential in developing the leader in each child.

Miss Agnes Ycasiano presented the family communications by Sven Wahlroos and how The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families can improve communications in the family.  She focused on how empathic listening, and seeking first to understand children bridge communication gaps especially in a high-tech and fast-evolving pop culture.  Parents committed to learn more about the 7 Habits and how they can build the 7 Habits culture not only in school but at home as well.
